Mountains
Being surrounded by the mountains and the spectacular beauty of these overwhelming rocks pulls millions of visitors to Zakopane like a magnet. There is so much charm to the land located right at the foot of the Tatra Mountains National Park that bringing a camera is a must.
You can enjoy an easy walk into one of the numerous valleys, get onto a funicular up the Gubałówka Hill to admire the views and sunbathe (even in winter-time), or get onto a cable car and zip right to the peak of Mount Kasprowy Wierch to feel like on top of the world.
Hiking trails
Most of the hundreds of hiking trails are located within the boundaries of the Tatra National Park. There are trails for beginners and more experienced hikers. If you choose something easy, you don’t need to worry about special hiking clothes or equipment. What’s most important, every trail you choose will make the experience unforgettable. Any time you go, it’s going to be amazing.
All trails are well marked, all trails are safe, and all trails are well prepared. If you want to hike for longer and choose a more difficult path, you can always be sure you will reach a safe-spot – a mountain shelter with a full offer of food and drinks. It’s always a good idea to take care of yourself and bring your own food and water for the hike, but there’s always a guarantee you can get something along the way.
There’s something for everyone – you can choose an easy stroll to one of many beautiful valleys or you can go to the top of the mountain of your choice (only a few peaks in the Tatra Mountains require hiring a professional mountain guide).
No matter what you choose, please remember you are in the national park and there are some (e.g. you can’t get off the marked trails or pick any flowers or plants). The Tatra National Park is open all year round and the main policy of the authorities is to not interfere with the nature.
Hospitality
Poland has a long history of surprising the world with the level of the hospitality you get while visiting this country. As far as the English fluency goes, the young are much better with their communication skills than their parents. While visiting Poland, you can be sure you are going to be welcome and served with a smile. Polish people are cheerful, welcoming, and helpful. Spending a holiday in Poland is a pleasure.
Comfort of stay
The region is packed with hotels and private quarters ready for tourists. But there is only one that offers outstanding service and thermal water pools – the Termy Szaflary Thermal Water Pools and Hotel. There is nothing as pleasant as a warm bath in rejuvenating water after a fun day full of attractions. Put a bathrobe on and head to the pools. Enjoy a delicious meal or sunbathe for hours on the hotel-guest-only terrace.
Hot baths are especially attractive in winter-time when you can relax in one of the outside pools while snow is falling on your head. It’s christmasy throughout the whole winter season.
All our Maltese guests receive a special comfort of one day trips with pick up and return to the hotel.
Culture and traditions
Zakopane is known as the winter capital city of Poland. It’s so popular because it offers so many ways to enjoy an active holiday but mostly because of its culture and traditions. This small region located at the foot of the majestic Tatra Mountains is home to thousands of highlander families who still observe the traditions of their ancestors.
The town is filled with regional music performed live in the best restaurants every night, the stalls are packed with regional food ready to eat and served warm or cold. The highlanders put their regional clothes on while visiting official events. Every year the peak seasons offer festivals, shows, parades, concerts, or international sport events. Check the calendar after making your booking – there’s a big chance you will be able to attend something unforgettable.
Fun-time
Every season offers unique opportunities for relaxing. Spring-time will welcome you with purple fields filled with crocuses all over the area. In summer you can make plans for hiking or walks into the national park and its magnificent valleys. There are a number of fun-fairs, museums, exhibitions, parades, festivals, concerts, cinemas, night-life venues to attend in any weather.
Winter-time will spoil you with the choice of winter activities – hiking, walks, skiing, ice-skating. The town coved with white snow is especially beautiful on sunny days. It’s cold, it’s white, it’s beautiful.
If you feel like relaxing and shopping – head down to the most popular boardwalk in Poland – the pedestrian-only Krupówki Street. For more romantic strolls – find and visit some of the Zakopane’s gems located on and off the official walking trails along the city center.
Prices
Visiting Poland is generally not so expensive. Local food is very popular and really cheap. One-day trips are surprisingly cheap as well. Only the top standard restaurants have prices comparable to the European ones.
Taxi fares are at the eCabs economy level.
The prices of souvenirs are really low so save up a lot of space in your luggage to take a lot of amazing stuff back home with you.
Every season counts
There are hundreds of opportunities in the region no matter what time you choose for the visit. Poland gets a greater amount of rain than Malta. There’s more snow than rain every winter-time. If you are lucky enough you can feel the strong gusts of very warm wind even in the middle of winter – the Halny Wind – the unique phenomenon experienced only in this region of Europe.
